Psychodynamic counselling is a type of therapy which works at an in-depth level to give you a deeper understanding of yourself.
This increase in self-awareness is a gradual process with subtle but permanent changes over time. Together we will identify recurring themes and patterns from the past which have become unhealthy but feel inescapable.
The psychodynamic process of self-exploration and self-discovery happens within the safe and boundaried relationship of the therapist and patient. The therapy session is your time to talk about anything you wish: this may be day to day issues, memories, dreams or any feelings or thoughts which come to mind. I will listen to you with empathy and in confidence. I am active in the process and the relationship I build with my clients. I ask questions and give honest feedback if you require it.
As you get to know yourself more fully your confidence will increase and you will be able to have more fulfilling relationships and experience greater freedom and fulfillment in life.
What Happens Next?
I offer an introductory session of up to 50 minutes where we can meet, you can tell me about your current situation and I can tell you about how I work. This gives us the opportunity to see what it will be like to work together.
If we decide to continue to work together we then agree a regular time to meet on the same day each week for 50 minutes. This is important so that we can build a relationship of commitment and trust.
